Beccles and District Lions Club would like to say a very big thank you once again to all the people of Beccles and the surrounding community for the generous support and giving they have provided to the club throughout the Christmas period.
Lion President, Chris Ramsden said “Christmas is our biggest fund raising period and each year the generous people of Beccles never seem to let us down and this year is no exception. It has been even better than last year’s. As a Lions Club we offer help to those less fortunate within the local community, therefore we do rely heavily on gifts and donations from the public. December, is our busiest time for fund raising and the people of Beccles have once again excelled themselves in their response. Demonstrating what Christmas is all about – a time for sharing and giving to help others. Through this generous giving Beccles Lions will be able to offer even more help and support to those in the community that need it the most – both young and old. As club President I know I speak for all the club members when I say a big thank you for your generous giving again this year.”
Beccles Lions Activities Officer, Lion Geoff Moulton added “On behalf of Beccles Lions I would like to thank the Town Council for allowing our Christmas Float in Beccles Town Centre again this year. Plus a big thank you to B&M Superstore, Roys in Beccles, Cherry Lane, South View Garden Centre, Fritton and Morrisons Supermarket in Beccles for allowing us to have the Christmas Float in their car parks.”
Christmas Parcels and Toys Appeal
Beccles and District Lions Club would like to thank B&M Superstore, Roys Supermarket and Morrisons Supermarkets for providing an empty basket for people to place items in for our Christmas Parcels Appeal.
Plus thank you to The Toy Box Shop for collecting the public’s toys that they wish to donate to our Christmas Toys Appeal.
The items are then collected by members of Beccles Lions and together with an army of helpers the items are sorted and made into gift parcels and then delivered to the needy within the Beccles Community and to children who may not be so lucky to receive any toys at Christmas. Lion Keith Moore said “These items are not just for the festive period they are for the New Year too and we really do appreciate the public’s kind giving at this very busy time of the year.”
Father Christmas Visiting Residential Care Homes
Again this Christmas Beccles Lions were able to help Father Christmas with his visits to local residential care homes.
Beccles Lions Welfare Officer, Lion Dermot Wesley-Smith said “Despite Christmas being a busy period for all club members we were again able to help Father Christmas with his visits to Beauchamp House in Loddon and The White House in Beccles to provide a Christmas singalong, with the assistance of the singing group BellaTonic, and gifts to the residents.”
