Beccles and District Lions Club were chartered in 1969. We operate as a Voluntary Service Organisation and are Registered Charitable Trust number 1032583. The members are all wishing to help the less fortunate people within the Beccles Area. Our aims were simple:-
The club is in Region 6, Zone A of District 105EA, and is always looking for new members and will offer a warm welcome to all visitors.
For over 40 years we have continued to go from strength to strength and the same aims are still holding true. We have been fortunate to have a strong membership over the years. We are a really mixed bunch of folks from a wide variety of backgrounds and interests, all with a good sense of fun.
Our aim is to help those less fortunate than ourselves, and to do this we raise money to make donations to worthy causes. No money collected from the public can be spent to the advantage of the Lions.
So it’s a very big “Thank you” to everyone who has come to our events and given so generously over the years. Without your help, we wouldn’t be able to make the donations we have done.
Most of our donations go to Local Organisations, such as the Scouts & Guides, First Responders, The May Centre. We also support some Regional Organisations such as the East Anglian Air Ambulances, as well as supporting Lions International.
You’ll find the press releases and photos for some of our recent presentations on the Newspage.
If you’re a Local Organisation seeking funding, please complete the Contact Form and someone from Beccles Lions will get back to you. We’re not able to help everyone but do undertake to assess every request thoroughly.
We are also willing to consider helping individuals who are unable to get assistance from their families, Social Services, or other Charities. All Welfare Applications are treated in the strictest confidence. Please complete the Contact Form if you wish to apply to us, we will do our best to help were we can.
Organisationally we are part of the East Anglian Lions Clubs and the British & Irish Lions Clubs. If you click onto either of these it will take you to the respective web sites where you will find more about the Lions.
